Currently, Asia is one of the most dynamic economic regions in the world. Information security for economic activities is a major concern among the major players, in particular, Japan, China and Korea.
Since the NSA announcement in 2015 about developing the next-generation quantum resistant cryptosystems, the countries in the region are all very excited about such an opportunity. NIST’s call for the post-quantum cryptographic algorithms announced in Japan in February 2016 sent shock waves to the region’s research institutions, who are very interested in participating and want to make a difference this time. Researchers in China, Japan and Korea decided that they will start from organizing a forum on post-quantum cryptography, where they can bring the state of art of development to the area and bring the researchers of Asia together to combine expertise and join forces to work on post-quantum cryptosystems.
