Instruction for Authors

  1. Authors may choose the most appropriate from the three areas (cf.3. below) and submit a paper to the Editor of that Area. (Each Area Editor will function as an independent editor of the respective area.)

  2. It is obligatory for the authors whose paper is accepted for publication in JJIAM to purchase at least 50 (or a multiple of 50 when exceeding 50) copies of the offprints of the paper when it is printed. [Unless the purchase order is received, the paper will not be put into further printing process.] The price is

    (5,000 + (the number of copies (a multiple of 50) - 50) × 20) × the number of printed pages

in Japanese Yen. This price is in accord with that for another official publication in Japanese, ``The Transactions of JSIAM.''

  3. In addition to the fields which obviously belong to the respective Areas, the following fields are also included in Areas <1> to <3>. (They are only illustrative but never exhaustive.)

    Area <1> Applied Mathematical Analysis:
applied analysis, combinatorial analysis, algebraic and geometrical methods, etc.
Dynamical Systems, Discrete Mathematics, Experimental Mathematics, Asymptotic Analysis, Mathematical Finance, Mathematical Biology, Modeling
    Area <2> Computational Techniques:
general methods, specific techniques for industrial applications, etc.
Numerical Analysis, Numerical Computation, Computational Algorithm, Optimization, Scientific Computation, Modeling
    Area <3> Industrial Mathematics:
mathematical modelling and analysis of real-world problems, etc.
Applied Optimization, Operations Research, Algorithms, Simulation and Approximation, Mathematical Engineering, Modeling

  4. Manuscripts should preferably be written in English, and typed in double-line spacing with wide margins on one side of the white paper of approximately 29.5 × 21cm. Manuscripts should be submitted in triplicate. The authors should keep a complete copy of their manuscript.

A short running title (40 characters or less) as well as authors' affiliation and mailing address should be provided on the first page. An abstract (no more than 150 words) and key words (5 or less) for subject index should be provided in English on the second page. Introduction should contain a description of the motivation for the article and/or the meaning of the results from the viewpoint of applications, since the object of JJIAM spreads over a wide variety of fields in mathematical sciences. The submitted paper will be reviewed taking much account of the relation to applications.

Figures and Tables should be submitted on separate sheets and not included in the text. They must be numbered and their captions and titles must be listed on another separate sheet. The authors should clarify in the margin of the manuscript where figures and tables are to be inserted. Drawing and lettering should be done in Indian ink except those by a plotter and a high-quality printer. References should be listed in the alphabetical order of the first author's family name at the end of the manuscript. In the text, references are cited as Burgers [1], Hodgkin and Huxley [3, p.18], or simply as [1], [3, p.18].
